YOUTH DESERVE MORE THAN THE RIGHT TO SURVIVE
As showcased in the United Nations University’s report “Cradled by Conflict," renowned research supports our specific approach and programming, proving that youth who have experienced difficulties and were given an opportunity to process and share their past challenges were impacted positively over time. They felt heard and valued and were more likely to be effective contributors to their communities.

1. SUSTAINABLE PROJECTS
Every single program collaborates with local, community centered organizations to enact long-lasting and effective solutions. Our model, approach, and curriculum are designed to work alongside the initiatives and goals that are already established for the local partner organization. From which youth should participate to what supplies will the student photo sales fund, our platform supports their local leadership, ideas, and needs.
2. YOUTH ARE THE HEROES
As youth process their stories and see the impact of their contribution on the community, our custom methodology emphasizes that they are the important contributors to their surroundings. From how they choose to document their photo narratives to the full-circle impact of photo sales to how program teachers are guided to incorporate language that amplifies this very fact. Think: “You must be so proud…” vs. “I am so proud...”
3. CORE VALUES
Embedded into our foundation and community are these questions: How does this uplift? Who is the hero in this photo or narrative? If the student or community partner were to see or hear this, how would they feel about themselves, their role in their community, and their role in the world? This value is at our core and infiltrates everything from branding, educator training, and classroom policies for programs worldwide.

IMPACT CASE STUDIES
KHANKE, KURDISTAN IRAQ
A 9 year old and his neighbors were highly persecuted by the Islamic State fighters for their Yazidi faith, and their entire region of Sinjar was in grave danger. After a miraculous weeks-long escape, his family arrived at an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Northern Iraq. When this program met him 5 years later, he took photographs of a single flower that grew alone in the middle of dirt during the curriculum activities and would express -- for the first time according to his community elders -- that it sometimes could represent loneliness or hope or fear to him and his family.
BRONX, NEW YORK USA
One of our outcomes and measurement tools that tracks impact is a Pre-course Survey that identifies how students feel about themselves, their role in their community, and their place in the world. During this program, a 12 year old stood up at the beginning of the first class, and her answer to the survey question, How do you feel knowing that other people want to see your perspective and hear your story? was “No one will care. No one has ever cared. And that’s all I have to say about that”. At the end of the curriculum and course, when asked the same question again, she stood up and said, “I am really proud.”
CARTAGENA, COLOMBIA
Through their perspectives and community contributions being uplifted, youth are showing themselves that today and always, they are the bigger picture. For example, in Cartagena, students were functioning in classrooms with over 90+ degrees of captured heat which directly affects their ability to focus, learn, and thrive in their education. Within just a few months of the initial 100cameras project, the students' photo sales had raised enough money to fund Air Conditioning for their entire school, creating a healthier environment for learning for everyone.
Established in 2009, 100cameras is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization in the United States of America and funded by programming partnerships with schools, districts, and local nonprofits as well as donations from corporations, foundations, and individuals.
